Tenuta San Marcello, Marche, Italy
Grapes: Verdicchio
Vintage: 2023
Winemaking: Traditional Georgian method. Aged 9 months in a buried and sealed Georgian amphora (Qvevri) and 6 months in bottle.
Massimo and Pascal chased a dream and brought it to life as Tenuta San Marcello. Inspired by the passion for wine passed down from his grandfather, Massimo set out to find the perfect land to create natural wines with authentic, traditional flavors. This journey led him and his family to settle in the picturesque Marche region.
The vineyard, adjacent to the winery, covers 2.2 hectares of Lacrima di Morro d’Alba and 1.5 hectares of Verdicchio (owned) plus 2 hectares of rented Verdicchio on a hillside slope (290–250 m above sea level) with clay-limestone soil and west-northwest orientation.
Biodynamic practices are employed, including worm humus, green manure, and natural preparations (propolis, herbal teas, etc.), to enrich the soil and protect the vines.
Cielo Sommerso reveals an orange-yellow color with amber hues.
On the nose, it is intense and persistent, with a generous aromatic profile. It offers refined hints of candied fruit and dried fruit, complemented by exotic spices and a touch of honey.
On the palate, it is very dry and velvety, with good body and a light tannic presence that enhances drinkability, making it a superb wine.
Cielo Sommerso pairs beautifully with a wide variety of dishes. It is excellent with blue goat cheeses and raw fish. A wine to keep in the glass, allowing its continuous evolution to unfold, perfect for slow sipping and reflection.
